Full description

This lovely hand crafted twist-pen is made using a piece of very old yew wood. The wood came from a ancient 400 year old tree that had to be felled because it had become dangerous after a lighting strike. Yew is very pleasing to work with as it produces as beautiful smooth finish and the colours within wood vary between deep red-brown or black to a light tan. The wood I used for this pen has a dark tan and deep brown grain. I turned the two halves of the pen to form a more traditional barrel shape, with the widest points of each set to the middle of each half of the two-piece pen giving it a slender, almost feminine appearance with clean, elegant lines. The twist mechanism is held within the centre of the pen, and the top half is rotated to propel the writing nib which has a black ink refill. The metal tip, centre-band, pocket clip and top finial have a gold finish to beautifully compliment the wood. The pen uses a Cross refill, widely available from any stationers store. To change the refill, you simply pull the two halves of the pen apart and unscrew the refill - there are no springs to loose with this pen. The pen is approximately 130mm long and 14mm at its widest.
