Full description

This handsome twist-pen is hand made from a piece of yew wood. I turned the two barrels to form a wide body, with the widest points set to the middle of each barrel of this two-piece pen giving it a more traditional appearance with flowing elegant lines. The wood I used came from a 400 year old tree that was felled because it had become dangerous after a lighting strike 10 years ago. The colours within yew can vary between deep red-brown or black to a light tan, and this pen has a dark tan and deep red-brown colour with near black grain patterns. The twist mechanism is held within the centre of the pen, and the two halves are rotated to propel the writing nib which has a black ink refill. The metal tip and pocket clip have a satin-chrome finish, while the centre-band and top finial have a faded copper finish to compliment the wood. The pen uses a Cross refill, widely available from any stationers store. To change the refill, you simply pull the two halves of the pen apart and unscrew the refill - there are no springs to loose with this pen. The pen is about 130mm long and 15mm wide.
