Full description

These simple drop earrings feature swirly pieces of fordite as a counterpoint to the classic minimalist design. The fordite is predominantly white with some blue, red, yellow and black, the open back sterling silver setting allows you to see the different pattern on the reverse. The earrings have been finished with simple hooks (if you'd prefer kidney wires let me know and I'll swap them over) to complete the classic look. Measures approx 46mm top to bottom inc hook by 13mm wide (fordite is 28 x 13mm) and comes in a gift box.

Fordite is the name given to the cured build up of paint that forms in spray booths at car factories. I normally cut my own fordite but a lapidarist friend was selling these cabochons and I liked them so bought them, he believed this material came from Ford's plant at Hazelwood. It has been stablised before cutting and you can see a mark where a crack had been filled but this is largely disguised by the pattern. I have quite a stash of different types of fordite from 1958 Cadillac to recent Jeep Wrangler material so if you would prefer something else then drop me a message.
