I cut and polish my own fordite, surfite and bowlerite, I'm happy to take commissions.

Full description
These unique dangle earrings feature marquise shaped drops fordite which has been bezel set in sterling silver and finished off with textured sterling silver stud tops. The fordite has a very swirly pattern in more muted shades of red, creamy white, dark green and a grey blue, the fordite came from the edge of the piece of rough and there are dips in the surface from the unevenness of the rough (you can see the rough in one of the photos - this is not included). This fordite had some cracks in it prior to cutting so I stablised it to make it super strong for cutting, if you look closely you can still see lines where the cracks were but they are largely hidden by the complicated pattern. The earrings measure approx 55mm from the top to bottom by 15mm across (fordite measures 38mm by15mm). Comes gift boxed.
Fordite is the name given to many layers of cured car paint that builds up in old style spray booths at car factories. The paint gets baked hard inbetween each layer leading to a durable material that can be cut to show off the many colours. This particular material I have matched to the colour charts for Vauxhall Viva/ Victor in the early to mid 70's, I cut this material myself so if you love fordite but want something else making drop me a message. Vintage fordite is becoming increasingly hard to source and thanks to more efficient painting processes less is being made so if you love your cars get some of the unique material whilst you can.
