It's fun to draw a container because it makes the floral subject behave differently and it also enables you to create a domestic setting. That, in turn, offers the opportunity to play about with light and shade more. The lilac comes from my garden and the scent, especially on a summer's evening, is heavenly.

Full description
White and pink lilac branches are pouring out of this yellow pottery jug which is sitting on a sun dappled wooden surface. I painted this piece in my Norfolk studio, it measures 40cms sq and is ready for you to hang. The golden tones of the jug are reflected on the wood and the background has a linen like texture painted with cream, blue and golden brown brush strokes which continue around the sides. This painting has a comfy, homely feel to it. Would it work in your home or could it make a pleasing new home gift? I call this one 'Lilac in Yellow Jug II'.
