Full description
This heart shaped pendant has been carefully cut from fordite and shaped to give a pattern of concentric hearts. The fordite is bezel set in sterling silver and the bail mounted on one lobe of the heart so it hangs at an angle when being worn. The fordite has a grey base with fine lines in sparkly blue, silver and red, the pendant is reversible and the back has a swirly pattern in navy, white and dark grey. The pendant measures approx 30mm top to bottom (excluding bail) and 30mm across. It would make a great gift for anyone who loves their cars or anything a bit unusual. It comes with an 18 inch sterling silver chain in a gift box.
Not come across fordite? Its layers of over spray paint that builds up in spray booths at car factories, the build up gets baked in the curing ovens in between each layer of paint giving a hard material that can be cut to show the many different colours in it. This particular material came from Ford's Wayne Assembly factory near Detroit and formed in about 2016 (I think they were making Cmax and Focus at that date) and I cut and polish the material myself. For this pendant I cut the heart shape once from an extra thick slab of rough (you can see it in some of the photos but it isn't included) and then cut it in half to give myself two heart preforms to further shape, the final photo shows both the final pendants but this listing is for only the grey one.
