Some years ago, in my globe trotting days, i was working in Indonesia and purchased a number of wood carvings, one of which was a large spoon which decorates our dining room. I wanted to create something similar and designed a matching fork to make a decorative pair. By happy coinicidence i had purchased some coconut wood, which at the time i was unsure what to use it for, but it made an ideal medium to carve the set.

An ornamental set of wall hung spoon and fork carved from coconut wood finished in a satin lacquer. The set may be a little too large to eat your cereal with, as they measure 470mm x 90mm (max) x 18mm. (L x W x Thick). The size of the items can be gauged by comparison with a 300mm ruler in the pictures.
Coconut wood is a little unusual being a relative new sustainable timber resource, coming from farmed plantations. The wood has the charecteristics of being both strong and light.
Designed by John King in Old Malden, Surrey.
