This uses the intricate Filling The Void method as taught by Vitrum Studios. It was an intricate process to cut the glass to precise lengths and widths but it was an enjoyable effort watching the pattern emerge.

Full description

This fused glass patter is made from 167 indivudually cut pieces of glass which have been stood on their edge to create this block pattern in soft pink, robin's egg blue, grey and white. It measures 25 cm x 15 cm and stands approx 3.5 cm tall. Because the glass strips have been constructed on their edge, the piece is 1cm thick.

It has been fired 3 times in the kiln, each time over 15 hours. First the piece was fused into one solid platter. Then it was coldworked to smooth the edges and firepolished in the kiln once more. Finally it was slumped over a mould to take the platter shape. Each firing included a 2 hour anneal process to avoid thermal shock when the piece gently cooled from the maximum 800 degrees temperature.

Price includes postage within the UK. Please contact direct for postage costs outside of the UK so that I can ensure they are specific for your country.
