The second in my Seasons collection of throws, I was keen to design as accurately as possible some British butterflies with all their gorgeous colours. I had a lot of fun doing the research and was delighted to see some of the butterflies in the garden. The yarn I chose to use fitted the palette I was looking for and is also a soft 100% Egyptian cotton

Full description

This is a 9 page PDF knitting PATTERN for a throw measuring 105cm x 140cm (42in x 56in). Each square measures 35cm x 35cm (14in x 14in). It can be knitted from bottom to top in three strips then sewn together vertically. The pattern is written as colour charts and written instructions using standard UK knitting terminology. You will need to be able to do intarsia and stranded (fair isle) knitting. The edging is done using double crochet (American single crochet) all round.

Materials required: Rowan Summerlite DK in 11 shades or any DK yarn knitting to the same tension 22sts x 30 rows to 10cm/4in square.

1 pair 3.75mm knitting needles, 1 cable needle, 3.25mm crochet hook.

The British butterflies featured are the Purple Emperor, Comma, Peacock, Small Tortoiseshell, Holly Blue, Swallowtail and the wildflowers include Cornflowers, Poppies, Honeysuckle, Rock Roses, Violets
