A beautifully grained ash panel that definitely needed a wading bird as it reminded me of the ripples on a sandy beach.

Full description
This chunky wall hanging features a sleepy sanderling. The bird has been hand carved from 2.5cm thick jelutong (wood) and painted with artists acrylics. It has a glass eye and stands on a small piece of driftwood. It is all mounted on a beautifully grained ash panel (looks like sand ripples) and both have been finished with wax giving a soft shine. The piece has been finished with white whelks from Exmouth beach and is hung with a simple piece of twine.
