I experimented with layering lace over felt hearts. In this example I have followed the floral outline of the lace, enhancing it with simple embroidery in vintage threads.

Floral lace has been layered over red felt and enhanced by hand embroidery using a variety of threads, some from my vintage stash.
I experimented with layering lace over felt hearts. In this example I have followed the floral outline of the lace, enhancing it with simple embroidery in vintage threads.
The completed design has been reinforced by a layer of interfacing. The design has been finished by stitching over the edge in blanket stitch using coordinating cotton thread. The back of the brooch is neatened by a layer of felt and a brooch pin is securely stitched in place.
Height - 5.5 cm approx
