This exquisite heirloom ivory silk christening gown is full length and intricately hand smocked across the front and at the cuffs in closely matched rayon thread. The front yoke is decorated with pin tucks and embroidered with French knots. The two part collar is decorated with hand worked bullion knot roses and together with the yoke is finished with miniature piping. The hem features a deep tuck and a scalloped pin tuck further decorated with bullion knot roses and French knot embroidery. The gown has full length sleeves and the back features a fully buttoned opening.
The Dupion silk used for this garment has a slightly slubby texture in the weave and has enough body that the gown hangs well and does not need petticoats underneath which a small baby may find uncomfortable.
The gown measures 52 cm at the chest and is 74 cm long. It should fit a baby of between 6 months to 1 year.
It is recommended that the gown be dry cleaned.
A matching smocked bonnet and adorable smocked shoes are also available.
