I love making traditional Dorset buttons and wanted to produce something respecting the heritage of the craft but given a contemporary edge and immensely wearable too.

This unique hand made brooch is developed from a traditional Dorset Cross Wheel button worked in two colours of cotton thread and decorated with sparkling matching beads.
The main colour is a purple shade and is contrasted with lilac. The tiny glass beads are added to the button as part of its construction and so are totally secure. The patterns of spokes and ridges worked is created by the artist as the mood takes and so will not be repeated.
The brooch is finished with a hand stitched brooch fastening.
The brooch is worked on a 32mm metal ring and is light to post and makes a perfect small present for the person who has everything!
