Mostly I want this line of handmade jewellery to look like something no production-line jewellery machine would ever make. Over the past couple of years I've been exploring a rock/crystalline theme in various items I've designed and made -- I want the final piece to look like it was a surprise discovery hewn from rock by someone hunting for dinosaur fossils, chiselling into boulders and splitting stones, something that was forged in molten ore, where heat and pressure caused gemstones to form within the piece. They're heavy, they're statements of intent. They're unisex: men love them and women love them; but they are not for the faint-hearted. These unique rings are worn best by the fearless, by renegades, and by the damned.

Full description
Designed to look like a part-crystalline object hewn from rock with a chisel and an axe, this is very much a statement ring, a conversation-starter. These unisex heavy chunky rings are sand-cast in Sterling silver, with multiple gemstones embedded in the cast metal, parts of the surface gilded with 24ct gold leaf, and with selected areas of silver oxidised to black.
Due to random variations in the casting process and the gilding, each of these rings is unique; no two of them are entirely identical. As the ring is worn and ages, on prominent edges/surfaces of the ring, some of the black oxidised metal will be worn back to raw silver; and some of the gold leaf will similarly be eroded away revealing the Sterling beneath.
We hold a small stock of hallmarked ready-made Hewn rings but in general these rings are made-to-order only. The amount of gold, and the number and type of gemstones can be varied (cubic zirconia is cheap yet sparkles just as well as diamonds; rubies and sapphires cost quite a lot more; and of course diamonds remain quite definitely a girl's best friend).
The price quoted here is a guideline for the ring with two 6.5mm brilliant-cut clear cubic zirconia (CZ) crystals, along with several smaller coloured CZ stones cast into the metal, and with a moderate amount of 24ct gold leaf welded onto the surface.
