The idea for my woodcarving kits came through my teaching of woodcarving as although carving is a relatively simple and enjoyable activity many people seemed to struggle with the art element of the process. How do you decide what to carve? How do you design a horse pendant, a leaf pendant or a raven when you're not confident in your drawing abilities? How do you orientate your design on the wood in a way that will work with the grain and is likely to succeed? These are the challenges that my woodcarving kits are here to help with.

Carve your own Horse Portrait pendant from sustainably sourced Oak or Lime wood. The pendant carving kit contains all of the materials you need in order to carve a beautiful wooden pendant all you need to find is a suitable carving knife (KNIFE IS NOT INCLUDED - Morakniv 120 is a good knife to start with).
Developed by fine art woodcarver Giles Newman each piece of wood has been carefully selected and prepared with a design selected to make the most of the woods grain and its inherent strength.
Each Kit includes:
- 1 Seasoned and Prepared Oak or Lime Pendant Blank (with a pre drawn design by Giles)
- 1 Length of waxed synthetic pendant cord
- 1 Stainless steel, self tapping eyelet
- 3 Sandpaper sheets (grades 120, 180, 240)
- Simple step-by-step instructions
- Exclusive access to online guides, hints and tips
- 1 Plaster!
- (Optional) Cut-resistant Thumb Guard
Choosing the right wood for you:
Lime wood is ideal for newcomers to woodcarving as it is much softer and easier to carve than Oak. Pale, creamy white in colour, Lime cuts cleanly and quickly with a sharp knife.
Oak wood is suitable for all woodcarvers but is significantly harder and more dense than Lime. Oak is perfect for highly detailed carvings.
