Moss Agate is a variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family.
It is generally included in the Agate family despite not being banded.
Moss agate is a beautiful sage-green stone, translucent or milky, with inclusions of iron or manganese, that look like tendrils of lichen or moss, giving the green colour.
It is thought to bring the wearer closer to nature, aiding with emotional balance, courage and tranquility.
Medieval farmers believed wearing it in the fields would improve the crop, and midwives wore it to radiate courage and relief to the mothers they were helping.
Native Americans believed it would bring rain when needed and Tribal priests would fashion amulets for warriors to bring courage, protection and prowess in battle.

Full description
This pretty, sparkly necklace features a centrepiece of a 12mm Moss Agate coin bead and two 8mm Moss Agate round beads, separated by 6mm Tibetan-style filigree spacer beads.
To either side is a trio of sparkly, 6mm and 4mm, quality Austrian crystals in the colours 'erinite shimmer', light rose' and 'peridot satin'.
The necklace graduates from alternating 6mm Moss Agate and Rose Quartz to 4mm beads, separated by a further trio of crystals and Tibetan silver spacers.
Handmade in my home workshop, here in beautiful Devon, UK, this would make a lovely gift for a birthday, anniversary, mother's day, or keep it as a treat for yourself.
The necklace fastens with a Tibetan style toggle clasp in the shape of a rose, which is nickel and lead free.
This necklace measures approximately 17.5 inches (45cm), contact me via the button under the banner on my front page if you would like the length altered.
Your necklace will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a pretty organza gift bag.
