Jewellery Maker TV approached me with the fabulous parcel of Dulong Jade and asked me to make something spectacular with it to be shown on their shows. I wanted to make something that really showcased the gemstone but would have real impact around the neckline.

Full description
Dulong Jade is a kind of jade produced in Gongshan County on the border between Yunnan and Burma in Nujiang Prefecture, Yunnan. This rare and highly valued gemstone is produced in very small amounts and its structure contains mainly quartz.
I have used stunning Dulong Jade barrels to create this unique, asymmetrical necklace. The green of the jade stands out because of the quality of the stone, and silver of the wire wrapping perfectly compliments the sticking colour of the jade.
I used tarnish-resistant silver-plated copper wire to build the piece. The intricate wire-wrapped connector allows for three swathes of jade to sweep around the neckline towards the fabulous abacus construction of the second connector. Everything is made by hand, including the lengths of jade station chains which cascade from the design.
This piece was showcased on Jewellery Maker TV, and I'm so proud that it had its moment of fame on the big screen.
