My Inspiration came from my love of wood and carving its profile with my trusty spoke shave and my late fathers American Stanley sweetheart chisel and his old carving gouge from the 1940’s and 1950’s. This fish gave me the connection to my forefathers in spirit, and in the feel of shaping this fish. As time goes on and thoughts change so will the types and designs change, just like the seasons we constantly look at different ideas in a different light.

Full description
This fish sculpture was made from recycled pine sourced from our workshop in Torbay and inspired it me due to its colouring, when combined with its base from a felled Boxwood shrub complete with bark. The Bark of the Boxwood has been treated and then coated with resin to ensure it remains attached to the main body. The bark was then coated with aluminium metal flake which has different colour to give the base a bit of glamour.
I added the brass rod to connect the Pine fish to the Boxwood base. The fish has been shaped to give the illusion of it swimming when viewed overhead, just for the fun of it and adds a different style to the sculpture. It’s tactile in its own way and something I hope you enjoy on your desktop or sideboard, a reminder of your time by the sea or on the river bank.

As with all our products they are individually made by hand in Torquay, by us, and you will receive a document to verify the products information and its identification marks. Something we have been doing since we started BaChZigns, but not told people about. All our items are individually numbered and marked on the base, and where possible signed.
This fish is made from organic, natural, solid wood and will distort if put in water or to near a heat source, they will discolour if left in direct sunlight. To care for the fish, feed the wood with bee wax or similar when required. The item you see here i
