Handmade firepoker with a beeswax coating
Made on my forge in Northamptonshire,it starts off as a 18inch long piece of 10mm square bar which is tapered down to a thin square point. I then bend it back on itself to bring the point back up and to the side.
The bend is then forge welded and hammered down to create the poker. I then put it in the vice and add a small twist just above the point.
Next I work the handle side down to the same square taper. This is then rounded on the anvil to create the handle you see. The twist process is then repeated.
I finish it off by bringing it to a gentle heat on the forge and then I seal it with beeswax.
The length is 49.5cm
The width is 4cm
