Inspiration for this pendant was to produce a love heart shape in two different colours using two different woods, which complement each other. This is how I think, we as couples should be with each other, the yin to the others yang. This necklace can be worn in one of two ways with the multi-coloured spalted beech wood side showing or the orangey yew showing depending on your mood. To finish the pendant we used a couple of coats of Carnauba wax to give a gentle lustre finish. Carnauba wax is a palm tree oil based extract and so it’s a vegan friendly coating to our pendants. Full description
This wood pierced heart necklace made from Spalted Beech and English yew woods with a blue vegan friendly suede cord and recycled hardwood toggle fastener. The necklace uses a wood toggle and a loop in the suede necklace, similar to a duffle coat. The heart was designed by us and handmade in house. It was cut by hand using a fret saw and a drill to produce the pierced inner heart shaped then shaped with a chisel and sandpaper. Due to the size of the heart and the chisels I used this was a job that needed care and a delicate touch. Initially the timbers were glued together with epoxy resin and the woods are laid as laminates, for the stability of the wood and the look of the pendant.

This necklace is made from organic, natural, solid wood and will distort if put in water or to near a heat source, they will discolour if left in direct sunlight.
To care for this item, feed the wood with wax or similar when required. The item you see here is the one you will receive and I have aimed to provide dimensions which are as accurate as possible. Please note that wood is a natural product and can be affected by its environment.
