Bee skeps were used for keeping swarms before the invention of the more familiar looking modern square wooden hives. Skeps were woven like a basket and placed outside south facing to keep the bees warm. They would make honey inside which would be extracted by the bee keeper at the end of the season. Each woven ring is called an "Eek", you could add another ring to get more honey, hence the term " to eek things out".
Perfect for a bee keeping friend or a honey lover.
