Full description
I love wooden boxes and am always on the look out for old boxes which I can then renovate.
This was a lovely oak box which had been given a coat of gold coloured paint.
I stripped off what was left of the gold colour and found a lovely little oak box underneath.
I have left the sides as found but have added a hand veneered design to the lid from my sheet of hexagonal design made for another item ( see other listings).
All has then been sanded, sealed and given several coats of french polish to give a lovely sheen.
Inside it shows it's age somewhat but I didn't want to do an excessive amount of refinishing.
Original hinges to lid.
I have not added a clasp as I feel it looks fine without.
