Full description
Deserted Beach is a piece of mounted textile art depicting waves breaking onto a sandy beach under a partly cloudy sky. The piece is made from a variety of different fabrics and has been free-motion embroidered. The duck-egg blue and white sea consists of layers of different fabrics, fluffy yarn, lace and fabric selvedge. The sandy beach is made from pale beige fabric with a suede-like finish, and two strips of selvedge edges in beige and golden-beige. I've added a starfish and a cluster of seed beads and gemstone bead chips. I've used free-motion embroidery to add some grasses to the foreground and some seagulls in the sky. The artwork is mounted on a square acid-free backing board, finished with a white aperture mount, and is ready to be framed. It is presented in a cellophane sleeve for protection.
This original textile artwork would make a lovely and unique gift for someone who loves the sea.
The approximate measurements of the artwork are:
Mount - approx. 8 inches (20cm) square. Aperture/textile art – approx. 6 inches (15cm) square.
