This listing is for two 3.3cm Dorset buttons. I made these by using various techniques of winding variegated green viscose silk thread around brass rings. Viscose silk is made from cellulose plant fibre.
I have created thread shanks on the back for easy sewing onto your project. I have attached them loosely to the cards using contrasting thread.
They could be used as functional buttons or as a decorative feature on bags, clothing, headbands etc. or could be made into jewellery.
The creation of Dorset buttons was originally a large cottage industry in Dorset, England between 1622 and 1850, after which they were overtaken by machine-made buttons.
These buttons measure 3.3cm (1.3") in diameter.
