HANDSPUN KNITTED SHAWL
Measurements - It measures 48" (122cm) wide and 23" (59cm) high from top centre of the long top edge to the bottom central point.
I handspun some beautifully soft British Bluefaced Leicester wool into a medium (DK) weight yarn. I then dyed some of this yarn a slightly variegated medium brown and the rest in variegated shades of gold, green, orange and beige. I then I knitted this triangular shawl.
I used garter stitch for the brown sections and stocking stitch for the variegated sections, adding a chevron bottom border in the brown with little picots to accentuate the points.
This would make a great Mothers' Day gift or birthday gift for a friend or family member.
A perfect item for autumn, this shawl is so cosy to wear, either in the traditional way with the point at the back, tied at the front or secured with a shawl pin, or the 'on trend' way, with the point at the front. I think this would look stunning with a dress on a special occasion, or it would also look great with jeans and a jumper or jacket. A great accessory to throw on for cooler summer evenings or wintry days. Also very useful as a 'shoulder warmer' either watching TV or reading in bed.
