Full description

This is a my unique original sketch of historical image in high quality pencil.

This sketch captures the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, located in the Kurfurstendamn area of West Berlin. The church, a wellknown landmark, was built in the 1890s to commemorate Emperor Wilhelm1. During WWII, the church was heavily damaged by bombinmg in 1943, leaving the main tower in ruins. The site was preserved as a reminder of the devastation of war and a symbol of peace.

In the late 1950s to 1960s,the Berlin government decided to keep the damaged church as a memorial while adding a modern church building next to it, creating a striking contrast between old and new. This image represents the period from the 1950s to the 1970s, a time when West Berlin symbolized freedom and prosperity during the Cold War. The church remains an important cultural and historical site for the city.

Adjacentto the church is a commerical building with large advertising signs, including brands like ''Grates Radio'' and '' Mercedes-Benz.'' This building was a part of West Berlin's bustling commerical district. However, over the years, the building was demolished to make way for modern redevelopment.

The church and the commercial building together represent a snapshot of West Berlin's history, capturing the spirit of a city that has continually transformed itself over time.

This sketch with frame and the size is 20cm square and the image size is 18cm square
