I saved these pieces of yew after a tree was cut down in my parents garden probably 10 years ago:- it has lovely wood grain and I had to cut pieces off that had been eaten my wood worm. (You can see see some trails underneath, but it has been treated, so shouldn't be a problem). The shade is not included, just to show how it will look. It has had a simple finish with a thin coat of acrylic sanding sealer, so it is a little "raw" in places, but that was what I thought will suit the piece, rather than over sanding it and having a glossy finish.

Full description
a wooden table lamp ready to be wired in made from a piece of Yew from my parents garden, it has some lovely wood grain. The centre is an old table leg saved from the wood pile. I love the odd shapes of the middle piece of yew and the unusual look of it:- which was the idea, to be a bit different, yet celebrate the beauty of the wood grain. The brass lamp holder is from Axminster tools, as is the base plate, secured with three screws, the plastic cable holder and the base has a removable plywood cover to allow your "competent person" or electrician to wire it with you choice of cable colour and length. Note it has a 3/8th of an inch hole up the middle, so a thinner cable is required... probably 3 core with .075 mm cross section, but you can chat to your electrician
