I’m influenced by the shapes of bottles in archaeological finds, particularly Minoan and other ancient Greek vessels. I like to give the forms a modern twist and decorate with contemporary designs influenced by the textiles of the 20th century and modern abstract art.

Full description
I handmade this curved flask bottle shape from black stoneware clay and decorated it with my own original design of colour blocks and stripes in pastel shades of lemon and grey. The design stretches around the bottle, and you can see the different front and back design in my images. Underneath is my potter’s mark of a swallow in flight impressed into the clay while it was still soft. The outside is the matt grainy finish of the natural black clay and pastel slip decoration. It looks good as a focal point, or in a group with others from my Abstract collection. Each of my pieces is different in shape and style, so each is a one off original, though I like to create a series of pieces to a loose abstract theme. The flask bottle stands at around 13 cm high, 5.5 cm wide and 4cm deep.
