- This is a PDF crochet pattern, not the actual toy -
The pattern will be emailed to you – usually within a couple of hours, but please allow up to 12.
I’ve made Wesley the whale using a super chunky no6 weight plush yarn. This is ideal for a big soft and huggable toy and is a quick make. Wesley can be made with or without the white underside piece. He is 12.5" long in super chunky weight yarn - 19.5" in jumbo - (when made with the recommended materials).
The 13 page pattern is intermediate skill level and uses UK terminology – if you would prefer US terms, please message me. It is clear to follow with detailed instructions and lots of pictures for step by step making and assembly. There is also an adjustment for using non-plush yarn as well as picture instructions for invisible finish, magic ring alternative and tips for sewing using jumbo chenille yarn.
The following stitches/techniques are used in this pattern: slip stitch, double crochet, half treble, treble, increase, decrease (dc2tog), invisible finish
Recommended Materials:
- Yarn: I have made Wesley using Premier Parfait Chunky (super chunky weight yarn) - colour and weight details in pattern
- Hook: 5mm (H) crochet hook (a 6mm hook is also needed for the underside piece)
- Stuffing: I use polyester filling
- Safety eyes: I have used 15mm plastic safety eyes
- Large yarn needle
- Pins
- (A stitch marker and row counter are useful)
