'Whimsical & Curious is the creation of Staffordshire based artist Lauren a textile sculptor who crafts whimsical heirloom creatures and animals that seem to have stepped straight out of fairy tales.
With a deep commitment to sustainability and the use of recycled materials, the artist’s work is not only a celebration of creativity but also a tribute to the enduring beauty of handmade craftsmanship.'
"I am inspired by Magical, Folk Tales as well as the Vintage fabrics and materials I use.

'Meet Hetty this delightful bunny, lovingly hand-crafted from vintage textiles, embodies the warmth of a quaint tea shop and bakery owner.
She wears a dainty vintage apron, and carries a silver spoon ready to stir up her latest creation.
This charming bunny, meticulously hand-crafted from vintage textiles, embodies the warmth and nostalgia of a cozy, old-world tea shop and bakery.
Her body is made from vintage embroidered linen, carefully stitched together to create a well-loved, timeless appearance.
She carries an old, rusted kettle, a cherished heirloom passed down through generations, symbolizing her deep connection to tradition and history.
By her side is a tiny mouse named Crumb, her loyal friend and assistant. Always eager to help, Crumb scurries around the tea shop, ensuring everything is in its place.

Hetty is a textile art sculpture in an Heirloom, keepsake style. I handmade her using vintage hand embroidered linens which I then painted, dyed and edged with gold.
She has a vintage apron, spoon brooch and lots of small details such as buttons, a fabric bow and found trinkets.
I love to create unique characters for all my pieces through hand stitched eyes with vintage buttons, and in this piece antique quilted fabric. Completed with a faux fur tail and linen whiskers.
She has a worn card box which is adorned with vintage preserve and baking labels, vintage cake tins, a vintage kettle, mini mouse friend in vintage linen and a hand made vintage linen apple pie which I hand dyed to match and topped with mini vintage apples!
Measuring aprox 32 inches high this piece is a unique one of a kind collectors piece.
'My creatures are inspired by the folk tales I had heard as a child, tales of wise foxes, mischievous hares, and gentle bears who roamed the forests, guiding lost travelers and protecting sacred groves. Each creature has its own story, told through the intricate stitching of its form and the expressive details of its face.
Their bodies, made from patchwork fabrics that show the marks of their origins—scars that tell of their past lives as dresses, curtains, or blankets.'
