Full description
Bookmark with moonlit countryside scene. This textile art bookmark consists of layers of different fabric, appliqué and free-motion and hand embroidery. The design depicts the countryside at night, and features stars and a full moon. The night sky is made from a dark blue velvety fabric. The meadows are made from layers of fabric, including a bright turquoise fabric with a textured pattern and slight sheen, a gold satin, and a dark turquoise upholstery fabric. In the foreground, I’ve added some delicate duck-egg blue flowers with free-motion embroidered stems and hand embroidered French knot flowers. The stars are gold holographic sequins and the moon is made from gold lamé. There is a flock of tiny hand embroidered sheep in one of the fields. The bookmark is backed with fabric with an abstract pattern of rectangular shapes in shades of blue, grey and silver. It has been stiffened with an inner layer of interfacing, and edged with zig-zag stitching in navy blue thread.
This lovely night-time countryside bookmark would make the perfect gift for anyone who loves reading and the countryside. It is also an inexpensive way of owning or gifting a piece of original textile art.
