Full description
Beach bookmark. This delightful seaside themed bookmark is made from a variety of different fabrics and has been free-motion embroidered. The design depicts waves breaking onto a sandy beach under a partly cloudy sky. On the horizon is a cute little green yacht with white, golden-yellow, green and pink floral sails. The blue and white sea consists of layers of different fabrics, fluffy yarn, lace and fabric selvedge. The sandy beach is made from pale beige fabric with a suede-like finish. I’ve added a piece of frayed cream cotton, on which I’ve hand-stamped the words “Ebb & flow” in black ink (this has then been ironed to make it water-resistant). I’ve also added a small piece of hessian, and some olive green free-motion embroidered grasses. The bookmark is backed with pale blue fabric with an abstract pattern of silvery cream lines. It is stiffened with an inner layer of interfacing, and edged with zig-zag stitching in blue thread.
This delightful bookmark is a miniature piece of original but affordable textile art. It would make the perfect gift for anyone who loves reading and loves the sea.
