I live on the edge of the Cotswold's so it would be remiss of me not to stock the fibre of this local long wool breed.
The Cotswold breed of sheep is descended from the flocks that grazed the Cotswold hills in Roman times. Their long wool, known as the golden fleece became a major export in the middle ages before their importance as a meat producer grew in the 19th century and rams were exported all over the world.
It's a good beginner fibre as it has a long staple and a beautiful crimp. Similar to Kent Romney in that it's not too bulky but with luster.
Approx 32 and 40 microns and staple length of 80-120mm.
Approximately 100g hand dyed by me as shown.
Designed by Debs Turner (Craftycatknittybits)
