I remember my Mum used to collect decorative thimbles when I was younger, usually they were made of ceramics with a place name and picture painted on. There was one particular one I remember out of them all, it was a small metal thimble that resembled a tree trunk, and on top a small fairy was flying. This was partly inspired by that memory.
The other part comes from the current project I'm working on, The Pale House. It's full of symbolic objects that you'd associate with home life. Full description
A decorative thimble made from pewter and painted with oil paints. An original is sculpted using two part epoxy clay, then a silicon mould is made. From here, using recycled pewter, casts are made. They are then hand painted with oil paints in cool greys with subtle colour accents.
Each one comes in a small presentation box and with a authentication numbered certificate.
