I love coastal interiors and this mixed together with a trip to the Padstow lobster hatchery in Cornwall on a Summer holiday inspired this print. I enjoy looking through old creative commons images, particularly illustrations and lithographs and it was one of these that got my creativity going on it all.

This is an original handmade linocut print of a luscious lobster, perfect for lovers of all things coastal.
I was inspired by an illustration by Charles Dessalines D’Orbingnay in the 1892 Dictionnaire Universel Histoire Naturelle, C/O Raw Pixel Creative Commons. I transferred it to lino and carved it with Pfeil cutting tools. I handprint.each copy.
They are printed on 250gsm white acid free card with a matching 100gsm white envelope. The card is A6 size measuring 10.5 x 14.8cm (4.2 x 5.8 inches). The white envelope measures 11.4 x 16.2 cm (4.45 x 6.4 inches).
The colour is a cool seaside blue hand-mixed from ‘Phthalo Blue’ and ‘Opaque White’ Caligo Safe Wash Relief inks. These are professional quality vegetable oil-based inks containing high quality ink rather than dye so offer excellent light fastness. That means they are less likely to fade in sunlight over time.
The professional quality oil-based ink and acid free card make this a perfect piece of art that looks charming framed and displayed for years to come. A card, keepsake and gift all in one (please note that my art does not include any frames shown in the pictures).
Because I hand mix the inks and print by hand you can be assured that every print is unique, coming out slightly differently depending on how I ink up the lino and the pressure I use when printing.
I post everything, UK only, Royal Mail 1st class, cello wrapped, in a board backed envelope. I post within 3 working days.
