I took this picture in Brighton in June 2019 as part of the London Brighton Classic Car Run.

HISTORY.

The Fiesta was Ford's entry into the small car class in 1976 which was proving very popular with the Mini, Hilman Imp, Fiat 127 etc. The first generation ran from 1970 to 1984 with the standard cars having a choice of either a 957cc or 1117cc engines. The XR2 was introduced in 1981 with a 1600cc crossflow Kent engine, black stripes, wider wheels and a very much angrier look and performance than the standard shopping cars. The first generation ran from 1976 to 1983 and subsequent generations are still evolving and being produced.
