Aquamarine, named from the Latin for seawater, is the pale blue-to-blue-green member of the beryl family.
In folklore it is linked to the sea, and sacred to the sea-god Neptune.
It was believed to calm the waves and bring protection and good luck to sailors and fishermen.
Aquamarine is the birthstone for March and Pisces, and the stone for the 19th wedding anniversary.

Full description
Gemstone earrings of genuine Smoky Quartz and Aquamarine oval nuggets topped with a 3.5mm faceted Aquamarine bead and separated by 2mm faceted Pyrite spacers.
The Smoky Quartz nuggets are roughly oval shapes measuring approximately 8x6mm and have a translucent grey-brown colour.
The Aquamarine nuggets are roughly oval shapes of approximately 7x5mm, with a delicate, icy blue-green colour and a milky, semi-translucency.
Tiny AAA grade faceted Pyrite beads add a subtle glint.
The beads are threaded onto gold vermeil pins and hung from gold vermeil ear-wires.
Gold vermeil is sterling silver that has been plated with 18k gold, and the wires are stamped '925'.
These earrings measure approximately 1.35 inches (3cm), excluding the wires.
Your earrings will be wrapped in tissue and presented in a small organza gift bag.
