We were on a family day out on the Watercress Line in Alresford, Hampshire and this beautiful retro 1950s poster caught my attention. I photographed it and used that as the inspiration for the sketch I finally designed and carved into the lino. And this lady just suits red! Its just so uplifting. I did this in lockdown at a time when this really expressed how I wanted to be feeling despite the restrictions.

This is an original handmade lino print greeting card 1950's retro woman. The card is left blank for your own message.
I drew the design in my sketchbook, transferred it onto the lino block, carved it, and then handprinted each copy.
They are printed on 250gsm white acid free card with a matching 100gsm white envelope. The card is A6 size measuring 10.5 x 14.8cm (4.2 x 5.8 inches). The white envelope measures 11.4 x 16.2 cm (4.45 x 6.4 inches).
The colour is a rich ‘Naphthol Red’ Caligo Safe Wash Relief ink. These are professional quality vegetable oil-based inks containing high quality ink rather than dye so offer excellent light fastness. That means they are less likely to fade in sunlight over time.
The professional quality oil-based ink and acid free card make this a perfect piece of art that looks charming framed and displayed for years to come. A card, keepsake and gift all in one (please note this card doesn’t come framed).
Because I hand mix the inks and print by hand you can be assured that every print is unique, coming out slightly differently depending on how I ink up the lino and the pressure I use when printing.
I post everything, UK only, Royal Mail 1st class, cello wrapped, in a board backed envelope. I post within 3 working days.
