In amongst the busy activity of moving house, stopping to do this painting was a chance to relax and this quiet but vibrant landscape was just the thing to chill out to.

Full description
This pastel painting is based on a photograph taken in Scotland, but with a little fantasy twist in some of the colours used to give the sunrise a little more vibrancy. I could just imagine the Fellowship of the Ring making its way across this scene.
This painting measures 26 x 20 cm (or 36 x 30 cm including its green double mount) and was completed on Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper using soft pastels, with pastel pencils only used as a finishing touch for some of the smaller details.in the hills and mountains.
I'm actually surprised I managed to get this painting done at the time as it was the last one I completed before moving house and the previous 12 months had been quite hectic as house moves often are.
