Inspiration
I'm slowly ticking off all the corvid family of birds in my paintings and drawings. I love them. I used to love watching the antics of Jackdaws who lived in the trees near an old workplace of mine. These cheeky birds are so clever and strutt about getting into all sorts of mischief . Inky black with blue tones in the sunlight. They have a grey shawl and very distinctive light coloured eyes. I wanted to try and capture this cheeky look so I deliberately chose this ' looking over his shoulder' stance. I also wanted to capture all those subtle blue tones. I used coloured pencils and pastels on grey paper for the original.
