The intensity of weather that winter brings is phenomenal and when you look closely you notice just how beautiful stormy weather can be. Pausing in awe, mesmerised and inspired, I love to watch the stormy seas... Spellbound by the ferocious waves that crash with unbelievable force against the shoreline and cliffs, or the white tips of swell in the distance breaking up the expanse of sea. Noticing the colour of the sea that varies from grey to almost navy blue and all the shades in between. Standing beneath a mean, moody sky and watching the changes in depth of colour and intensity. Noticing how the clouds roll though the sky, their speed commanded by the wind and playing that game of chance, wondering if each one will release it's contents on you! Beauty found in the dark and intense, beauty found on a grey day, beauty found in moments often missed...

Full description
These Sterling Silver cufflinks are inspired by stormy days on the Cornish coast and finding beauty in amongst the 'grey.'
These contemporary cufflinks are are formed of discs of sterling silver that have been shaped in to domes. Each dome measures approx 1.7cm (17mm) at its widest tallest point. The depth of the dome is aprox 0.4cm (4mm).
The inside of the domes have been treated with an oxidising treatment to blacken it, which has been lightly polished. The polishing process removes some of the colour and also gives it a sheen that changes the intensity of colour just like a stormy sky! Half of each concave dome is then textured again and small sections of the blackened, polished surface are hand engraved to reveal the silver - it's this that is representative of the ferocious sea. The edge of the domes are flat, front facing and have been polished for contrast against the blackened insides.
These are fixed back cufflinks, with no movement in the arm. The dome is attached to a fixed post, made from Sterling Silver that will thread through the buttonhole. At the other end, there is a smaller disc. This disc has been left flat, with a brushed texture and can be personalised with up to 3 letters on each one at a small additional cost. The fixed post is 0.3cm (3mm) wide and 0.9 (9mm) long. The smaller, flat disc is 0.8cm (8mm) wide. The back of the dome, fixed post and smaller disc have all been finished with a brushed texture.
