Owls have long been symbols of wisdom, mystery, and intuition, and I wanted to capture that essence in this piece. The golden crown represents the quiet majesty and presence of these incredible birds, while the rich colours and metallic accents add a sense of enchantment and magic.
I painted this using traditional Japanese watercolours, layering delicate washes to bring out the owl’s soulful gaze and intricate feather details. The addition of handmade metallic watercolour gives the piece a touch of light and movement, making it shimmer beautifully in different lighting.

Full description
This unique hand-painted owl artwork is full of character and rich, vibrant colour. Measuring approximately 15cm x 10cm, it is painted on high-quality cold-pressed watercolour paper using traditional Japanese watercolour paints and enhanced with watercolour pencils.
The owl wears a delicate gold metallic crown, with shimmering accents in the background, created using handmade metallic watercolour from one of my favourite suppliers.
