This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
It is a Swedish traditiona; Darlana or Dala horse which originated in the Dalarna region of Sweden and is usually in the form of a wooden horse. See next to last photo..
I've cut the horse body from a rather lovely bright red cathedral glass which has slight blotches of colour which gives super movement. The saddle strap and harness are blue millefiori slices.
The mane and saddle are cut from a special fusing glass called Spirit.
I think it is just perfect to give the pattern needed without having to use lots of tiny glass pieces as my aim was to keep the overall ldesign as simple and classic as possible.
The horse is 12.5 x 12.5 cm and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely soldered to either side of the horse.
It looks super hanging in the window where it catches the light.and have to admit to being exceedingly pleased with how this has turned out.
This item is absolutely unique. I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece even when making the same pattern.
I can also make this in blue, See last photo.
