Acquire a lovely branch of Yew, showing the heartwood and the sapwood, The plit occured in the sapwood and was a shock. However I think the repair makes it an interesting and beautiful object.

This is a Bud Vase or to our American friends a Twig Pot. Made from English Yew (Taxus Baccata)...Although the wood was well seasoned, a split occured shortly after turning. This has been repaired with an aluminium "Weld"
Now this is a secret, so don't tell anyone. I mix up finely ground alumium powder with glue. Apply it to the crack and then return it to the lathe for smoothing and polishing. It is therefore a sample of what the Japanese call Wabi-Sabi i.e. celebrating imperfections.
It comes with a plastic test-tube, so water can be added to maintain a live bud or flower.
It is approx 3 inches diameter and 4.5 inches tall
