I'd been thinking of a leaf design for a while so was delighted when a customer asked me for a Maple Leaf.

Full description
This is a stained glass suncatcher made using the Tiffany copper foil technique.
A Maple Leaf, a new design I made originally for a commission. I liked what I had made so much I added it to my catalogue.
Bright red and cut from 5 different types and textures of red glass with a few hints of amber. The different textures give plenty of movement..
The surround is cut from hammered clear glass which has a bubble effect, which could be rain if you wanted, the outer border to the square is a clear gently textured glass.
It looks lovely hanging in the window with the sun casting the vibrant reds which change with the light.
This is 14cm square and hangs from a little silvery chain which is securely attached to the top of the suncatcher. I've framed it with twisted wire for strength and neatness.
I never make two pieces exactly the same, I always use slightly different colours and textures of glass for each piece to ensure it is unique.
