Full description
After making and selling the best part of 500 of these tripods and shipping them all over the world, I've come up with a new and improved version which is replaces the old design. The new style is a little lighter, neater, packs down slightly more tidily and looks a bit more stylish too!
This sturdy little tripod is hand forged from 12mm mild steel and designed with a neat little interlocking system which is stable in use and yet assembles and disassembles in seconds. It comprises three legs, one with an integral hook to suspend your cooking pot or grill from, plus two extra S hooks to adjust the height of your cooking pot over the fire. The tripod legs are 1 metre (39") long to the point where they all intersect.
It can also be quickly reconfigured into a horizontal layout to hang multiple pots and pans over the same fire.
This is a robust bit of kit and should survive many years of use but as with all steel products, it needs a bit of TLC to protect it from moisture. As new, the forged ends are protected with wax while hot which soaks in and helps keep the surface fresh. Through time, it would appreciate a little rub with oil or wax now and again if you heat it slightly over the fire first itll soak in nicely. For anything to be used around food, I recommend using food-safe oils olive or veg oil should do fine, or a quick rub with beeswax.
