Full description
A selection of hand dyed, 100% cotton fabrics and some additional assorted fibres
Three pieces of fabric, approx 30x30cm
The additional fibres will be a selection of cotton, linen or wool of varying sizes and colours. (The photographs show an example, you will receive a random selection of these pieces.)
Cutch - one of the Muddy House Folk’s favourite dyes. It is high in tannins and produces a very rich, deep brown
Madder - this needs a long three to five years to grow before the roots are ready to be used in a dye pot. We have yet to reach this time in the Muddy House garden, so until we’re able to use our own we’ve bought the dye to create this rusty red fabric in our workroom
Cutch and lac - a soft orange- brown colour, reminiscent of terracotta, created by combining cutch and lac
– Please note the dye in these fabrics may be slightly uneven
Care Instructions
Fibres dyed with natural dyes should be washed in a pH neutral detergent. Bright sunlight should be avoided and if washing your products are dried outside, make sure that they are in the shade.
Our dyed yarn and fabric have been prepared carefully, going through many steps and finally having a thorough final rinse. However, there may be some excess dye residue when washed. Washing by hand will prolong the life of the colour but if you would like to machine wash please use a delicate, cool wash and rinse.
