Full description
English countryside tote bag. This delightful bag has an appliqué and hand-embroidered design depicting a scene of fields and hills in summer. The lower part of the bag is made from green tweed fabric and the upper part from blue upholstery fabric. The green lower front is the foreground of the scene and depicts a meadow scattered with hand-embroidered daisies. Behind this meadow is an appliqué series of fields on hills. These are made from a variety of fabrics in shades of green, duck-egg blue, gold, beige and brown. Two of the fabrics have a wavy striped pattern and resemble ploughed fields. I've added numerous little appliqué trees and shrubs in various shades of green. To two of the fields I’ve added tiny sheep, made from hand-embroidered French knots. The blue upper front depicts the sky, to which I've added an appliqué cloud. The bag is lined with golden cream fabric with a woven pattern of small shiny squares.
This English countryside tote bag is a piece of textile art with a practical use. The hand-embroidered detailing adds a special finishing touch. The bag would be ideal for special occasions.
The approximate measurements of the tote bag are:
14 inches (35cm) high x 12.5 inches (32cm) wide x 3 inches (8cm) across the base. The handles are approx. 24 inches (60cm) from end to end, and are of a length that can be worn on the shoulder or carried as a handbag.
