PLEASE NOTE

I AM UPDATING PRODUCT BOXES FOR JEWELLERY AND DECORATIONS WHICH WILL TAKE AWHILE, IF YOU PURCHASE YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR ORDER IN THE NEW BOXES AS DESCRIBED BELOW.

Jewellery boxes are made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue. Jewellery box inserts are made from tall oil, a by-product of wood pulp industry. All paper, card, glue, inks and delivery boxes used are made from recycled materials.

The idea is to create something new from old, found by chance unique, full of history and character. To present and deliver Eco Friendly gifts in Sustainable Packaging.

I love collecting ceramic discarded, lost, forgotten, damaged or just not wanted any more. Favourite places are rivers and beaches, but also find great things at recycling centres and charity shops. I’m lucky to live near the River Tees, Co Durham and often walk the banks picking up broken glass, pottery anything that can be cleaned and re-worked and crafted into something new. Bits and bobs found by chance waiting to find new homes.

You have 14 days, from receipt, to notify the seller if you wish to cancel your order or exchange an item.

Unless faulty, the following types of items are non-refundable: items that are personalised, bespoke or made-to-order to your specific requirements; items which deteriorate quickly (e.g. food), personal items sold with a hygiene seal (cosmetics, underwear) in instances where the seal is broken; digital items.

Additional terms

Hand crafted Jewellery and framed artworks using pre loved and discarded ceramics. Ceramic material will show signs of wear and damage. Entire process is a creative experience from discovery to final picture, nothing planned or preconceived. All materials personally collected from river banks, charity shops, roadside, woods, recycle centres, beaches, wherever dropped, dumped or donated ceramics are found, cleaned and shaped into new stories. Each piece comes with a short bio of where the ceramic came from, date found and re-created. Some shards collected are used as found, others are cut randomly which shape the final work. Every piece is individual, nothing replicated, however, due to repetitive patterns in ceramics there will be some similarity but only through the ceramic material not in the final piece.

Please note that if your order is being posted outside mainland UK, you (or the recipient) may have to pay customs or VAT charges and a handling fee. The seller is not responsible for any charges or fees that may incur.

Read the Folksy Returns Policy.

Created from ceramic discovered in

Thorsgill Beck, Barnard Castle June 2020

Handcrafted into Earrings April 2023

In June 2020 walking Thorsgill Beck, The River Tees, Barnard Castle, Co Durham I came across a small chunky shard caught by a rock.

Pretty lilac colour but dirty. After a clean I stored the shard as ‘projects’. Every now and then I rummage around the box, rediscovering and saw the small lilac shard carefully wrapped in tissue. I gently clipped with tile cutters and managed to create two shards.

Really amazed and pleased I managed to create these earrings from a very lost piece of pot, found by chance, washed, dried and stored for almost 3 years. Sanded and sealed with matte non toxic Eco Friendly sealant. The area where the holes are on the backs have been sanded down to help preserve the back glaze. Front glaze in tact but marked, still has a little shine. Unique and full of history.

Sterling silver 925 hooks.

Each earring measures approximately 18mm x 10mm x 4mm.

The idea is to create something new from old, the finished piece isn't meant to be perfect. Instead, retain marks, stains and scratches, part of the original shard and it’s journey.

Delivered in gift box made from FSC®-certified cardboard and water-based glue.

Presented on Jewellery box insert made from tall oil, a by-product of paper production. Small brown gift bag included.
