I was enjoying exploring ornamental turning techniques on the lathe.... then using spirit stain under acrylic lacquer with different colours, still allowing the wood grain to show through...to me the 24 carat gold leaf (I think, it was so long ago!) just adds a nice shine and the shadows and patina are fantastic, a slightly distressed look finished off with a white wax that takes the edge off its newness....it is an eclectic item, hope it finds a new owner to love it....

One of a series of table lamps from a while ago when I was looking at ornamental turning. This naturally lead to using spirit stain to allow the wood grain to show through, then is seemed obvious to apply some gold leaf to highlight as well as some coloured wax after. It is second hand, as I used it for a few months....very pleased with it... but I have so many now I need to let some go to a new discerning owner... as I am not an electrician I will remove the plug and the new owner will need to get a competent person to check the electrics before they reattach it:- if you think about it I am sure you will agree.... the bulb and the shade are not included either. Btw, the top is slightly bent when you look at it from one angle, I think the wood has bowed slightly, such is life with wood... there is steel tube running through the middle with the cable inside...so should be fine....
